Hi, I’m Kirby!

I'm deeply passionate about the potential for technology to improve human well-being. With 12 years of mixed methods research experience, I've primarily specialized in UX Research for digital health companies. At Google and Fitbit, I oversaw strategic research initiatives focused on improving health outcomes, including the successful launch of Fitbit Premium. I also had the exciting opportunity to start and lead the UX Research function at 7 mission-driven startups, including Tempo, an AI fitness coaching startup. Most recently, I founded a social enterprise (Habit Harmony) that conducts research on the potential for AI and other new technologies to induce mindfulness and healthy habits.

I’ve worked with leading tech companies in health, education, and housing.

Develop a highly effective health companion for behavior change

Design improvements helped more than 29 million users build and sustain healthy habits, which impacted new product development resulting in an average CSAT from 2.8 to 4.1 out of 5 stars (46% increase) for my product area focus, Fitbit Premium.

Redesign a product that helps parents prevent illness for their kids

Managed a project team of 3 UX researchers and 6 UI/UX designers to redesign Kinsa’s Groups product in their iOS app resulting in a 22% increase to CSAT. The Groups product helps parents prevent illness from spreading to their children or other children in the the same school.

Create a workplace that improves employee health and well-being

Oversaw mixed-method research focused on employee well-being at Google. My research was foundational to the company's wellness strategy and helped improve 5/5 core health outcome measures for 52K+ employees.

Empower students to drive their own personal learning journeys

Led two UX project research teams at AltSchool (currently Altitude Learning) seeking to help students better understand and have agency in their own learning journeys. We also generated insights into how teachers and parents could best support students.
